Proper Packing is Critical
Advice from UPSHow to Pack Your Items
The first step in ensuring your shipment's safe arrival is proper
packaging:
Use a rigid box or case with its flaps intact
Make sure all items are separately wrapped and cushioned with sufficient
packing material
Seal the box with strong tape designed for shipping
Affix a complete address label to the outside of the box. Place a
duplicate label inside the box.
Packing Irregularly Shaped Items
UPS can ship just about anything, provided it is properly packed and
labeled. This includes tires, rolls of fabric or wallpaper, bare metal
items, and bundled or strapped boxes. Each of these types of packages has
packaging and labeling requirements.
Weight and Size Limits
To ship at standard rates, your package must conform to the UPS weight and
size restrictions:
Up to 150 lbs (70 kg) -- packages heavier than 70 lbs (31.5 kg, 25 kg within
the EU) require a special heavy-package label
Up to 130 inches (330 cm) in length and girth combined
Up to 108 inches (270 cm) in length
Oversize packages and packages with a large size-to-weight ratio require
special pricing and dimensional weight calculations
Packages that exceed these guidelines are subject to an additional charge.
